Dual-studies program
Pursuing your studies with Mercoline
In cooperation with the Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin (formerly the University of Applied Sciences Berlin) we provide students working towards a degree in business informatics with the ideal opportunity to acquire practical training that complements their coursework.
What is the dual-studies program?
Dual studies is a concept that fuses a specific academic curriculum of a given university with corresponding practical training acquired at a partner organization. The length of the program is seven academic semesters. Each of the first six semesters involves both a 13-week academic portion at the University of Applied Sciences and ten weeks of practical training at the approved partner organization. A bachelor’s thesis is written during the seventh academic semester. The student earns a Bachelor of Science degree upon successful completion of the degree. For further information, please refer to the University of Applied Science Berlin's website.
Application process
The bachelor’s program starts in the winter semester. Mercoline must receive all applications by 1 May prior to the upcoming winter semester. Approved candidates are offered an internship that runs the entire course of the bachelor’s program.
What we offer as an IT company:
The dual-studies program provides you with the opportunity to acquire experience in a range of Mercoline’s corporate departments early on. You’ll discover where your own interests truly lie and be able to build upon them in later phases of practical training and specialization.
The training consists of a 40-hour work week that can be flexibly scheduled. During practical training, you’ll manage your own projects, enabling you to gain invaluable on-the-job experience while completing your degree. Furthermore, you’ll be given reasonable compensation for your time, both during practical training and the academic semester..
You also have a solid chance of being offered a position at Mercoline once you’ve completed your degree.
Candidate profile:
Candidates interested in applying for the dual-studies program should have completed A-level exit exams (or equivalency) and possess a solid background in math and computer science, as well as in German and English. Furthermore, German nationals are expected to have completed their obligatory military or civilian service (or be in possession of a waiver) and should:
- be highly self-motivated and have a keen sense of responsibility
- be analytical thinkers with good problem-solving skills
- thrive under pressure
- have a love for computer science
