Express for your parcels: Enable your SAP system to directly communicate with and track parcel shipments with UPS and other leading parcel services.

With the help of M.TransportCommunicator, more and more SAP equipped companies are accelerating their shipping processes with courier, express package and parcel services (CEPs), as well as logistics service providers.

Each year, more than 2.5 billion shipments are sent out in Germany by express parcel  service companies such as UPS, DHL, FedEx, DPD, trans-o-flex or GLS. Often, the shipping processes with the those companies are not integrated into the shipper’s SAP system. Employees who want to send a package have to supply the parcel data already stored in SAP to the parcel service staff or the post office, where the data are then re-entered into the parcel companies system. The process is time consuming, highly susceptible to error and expensive.

“Express parcel applications up until now have not allowed for integration into the SAP document flow. With M.TransportCommunicator, even inexperienced SAP users can quickly learn to initiate and then track a parcel shipment right from their work stations,” says Steffen Udolph, Product Manager at Mercoline, in summing up just some of the solution’s benefits.

M.TransportCommunicator provides support in two ways. All required data, generally consisting of shipment data, can be gathered into the SAP system from a number of sources. This also includes accounting for handling units. Thanks to the application’s architecture, alternative data from delivery notes, transport assignments, etc., can also be easily implemented. The data are then transferred directly into a message for the parcel company. The user now uses his or her accustomed work station to add any information that might still be missing, sends the message to the parcel company, prints the label using SAP and initiates the shipment. If no reference document already exists, you can still create a CEP order “by hand” in the system. Plausibility checks already prevent many inconsistencies while the order is being written. “By using the M.TransportCommunicator, companies eliminate time consuming format changes and, depending on the situation, can save up to 50% of the time needed for parcel shipments,” explains Steffen Udolph.

The solution M.TransportCommunicator increases transparency in the supply chain. While in the past a shipment’s status had to be tracked down in the parcel company’s own system, today your staff can use the master document directly in the SAP system to determine the shipping status of the package. The logistics EDI monitor additionally supplies the company with a comprehensive overview of all deliveries, integrated for parcel companies and logistics service providers.
