Dr. August Wolff GmbH & Co. KG pharmaceuticals handle electronics customs clearance the Mercoline way.

In 2008, the executive management of Dr. August Wolff prioritized switching to electronic customs clearance (ATLAS export services) to ensure the system would be in place by 1 July 2009, the compulsory deadline for all German export companies.

One thing was clear from the get-go: The system would have to be fully compatible with Wolff’s existing SAP environment and allow for its ready integration. Mercoline’s M.SupplySide.ATLAS solution demonstrated clear advantages for IT and customs department. “The alternatives available on the market either tended to lack functions, couldn’t be integrated into our SAP infrastructure, or weren’t in our price range,” comments Gisbert Brockhals, IT Director at August Wolff. One of the major benefits of Mercoline’s solutions is that invoice data can be instantly absorbed by the electronic customs declaration forms.

Since early January 2009, Dr. August Wolff GmbH & Co. KG pharmaceuticals has been successfully using the solution to handle export processes. Mercoline provided remote installation and configuration of its solution from its offices in Berlin, thus keeping both the turn-around time and financial expense involved in SAP system integration to a minimum. And as the staff was familiar with the existing SAP infrastructure, training could be conducted in a few short hours, resulting in additional time and financial savings.

The proof is in the pudding: Dr. Kurt Wolff GmbH & Co. KG, a further Dr. Wolff subsidiary, has also decided to go with M.SupplySide.ATLAS. Implementation will take place during the next few weeks.
