Always aiming higher: SAP-EWM connection in the new logistics center of Laverana GmbH & Co. KG

Laverana in Lower Saxony has been producing natural cosmetics under the Lavera brand since 1987. Laverana GmbH & Co. KG stands for sustainability and innovation. Due to its steady growth, Laverana has expanded its locations in the Hanover region and built a new logistics center in Bantorf, which went into operation in fall 2019. When it comes to transport logistics, the company relies on solutions from Mercoline's M.SmartLogistics suite.

Laverana uses M.TransportCommunicator to connect CEPs and freight forwarders. This was to remain the case in the new logistics center in Bantorf, but was to be expanded to include an interface to SAP-EWM. In the joint project, Mercoline provided the interface between SAP-ERP and SAP-EWM for creating documents and printing labels with M.TransportCommunicator. A special feature here is the use of an applicator, which Laverana uses in an automated packaging line. It automatically affixes the labels required by the various CEP service providers to the picked parcels. M.TransportCommunicator also supplies the data for each label in raw form, while the applicator determines the necessary label data via the package ID and then generates the printout.

Andreas Berg, Head of Organization at Laverana and project manager for the SAP EWM implementation, is not only enthusiastic about the new logistics center, but also about the cooperation with Mercoline.

Since we have been working with Mercoline for over 10 years and we have always been satisfied with both the transport service provider connection and the other add-ons, as well as with the cooperation, Mercoline was also the first choice for us here. The cooperation in the project has shown: with Mercoline we have done everything right.

The new high-bay warehouse is impressive

By the way, Laverana's new high-bay warehouse has enormous dimensions: on a length of 120 meters, there are approx. 21,400 pallet spaces on 19 levels. This makes the new logistics center the largest expansion project in the company's history. The original logistics center at the headquarters in Ronnenberg continued to be used as a distribution center and for production supply and disposal until the move to Bantorf was completed. The smooth move was made possible because all previous processes could continue to be handled in parallel to SAP EWM via SAP WM and M.TransportCommunicator.
