My first few weeks at Mercoline
Even before sitting my A-levels in spring 2025, I knew that I would be starting a dual degree in Business Informatics at Mercoline straight afterwards.
The six-week pre-study placement before the start of my first semester at university was the perfect opportunity to get to know the office, our work and my colleagues. The first week began, as is tradition, with the ‘MCL Rally’, the aim of which was to answer as many of the questions set as possible and then present the results in a talk. The principle behind the rally is that some questions could only be answered by asking other colleagues. This therefore provided a great opportunity to get to know the office and my colleagues.
Over the remaining five weeks, there was an assignment to complete, which also involved a final presentation. During this time, I was able to gain an insight into how the SAP SD process works, which provided a good introduction to the subject.
My first semester at university
Looking back, I found my first semester at the HWR to be a very positive experience.
It was particularly interesting at the start to see which fellow students were also studying Business Informatics and which companies they worked for. I made lots of friends straight away, and the lecturers are generally very relaxed and friendly – quite different from the teachers I was used to at school. Some days there was a heavy lecture schedule, but this was easily manageable thanks to a few coffee breaks in the canteen with my fellow students.
In conclusion, I can say that I made the right decision to carry on straight after my A-levels. Both the close-knit atmosphere at Mercoline and my fellow students at university are helping to make the next three years a positive experience and to create further memories and experiences.
