Transport logistics updates in the first half of 2024

An exciting 2024 lies ahead of us!

Last year, we were able to support all of our customers who use the electronic ATLAS customs declaration via M.SecureTrade ATLAS and Mercoline EDI services in a comprehensive migration project. We would like to thank you once again for the trust you have placed in us and the successful joint project work!

Important joint projects are now on the agenda for many of Mercoline's transport logistics customers in the first half of the new year.

The digitalisation of transport logistics will progress even further in 2024.

Important projects are coming up in the new year for shippers using DHL Express, UPS or FedEx with M.TransportCommunicator or M.ShippingRates:

  • FedEx and UPS have announced major API modernisations that will be supported with updates to M.ShippingRates and M.TransportCommunicator in early March 2024.
Due to the mandatory changes that FedEx and UPS are introducing, shippers must implement important interface updates by June 2024 to ensure uninterrupted shipping. The focus of the interface updates is to further increase the cyber security of the transport service provider backends. Mercoline will support you in this project with targeted implementation support and the appropriate software. There will also be two webinars specifically for the UPS migration in January 2024.
  • In addition, shippers who export with UPS are requested by UPS to transmit invoice data in the shipment declaration. This is intended to avoid additional costs that would otherwise be charged by UPS over the course of the year. The so-called paperless invoice procedure is already available in M.TransportCommunicator for precisely this purpose. Mercoline will be happy to support you in setting up and further configuring the process in your existing M.TransportCommunicator installation.
  • In the course of 2024, DHL Express will also make electronic document dispatch for export shipments mandatory for all shippers. This should save time, avoid additional costs for import customs clearance and ensure that all information relevant for customs clearance is available in good time without the need for paper documents. With M.TransportCommunicator 2309, Mercoline already made the software prerequisite for the use of paperless trade available to all customers in the last quarter of last year. The most important steps for implementation were presented in webinars in December 2023. Mercoline is looking forward to supporting all DHL Express customers with the implementation of M.TransportCommunicator to drive digitalisation in export.

But that's not all:

In addition to DHL Express, other service providers also offer electronic document transmission to increase efficiency in customs clearance. Mercoline is already working closely with other service providers in order to make the full integration of paperless export available to many other shippers for other transport service providers in the future. Innovations are also in the pipeline to reduce manual interaction in the compilation of export-relevant documents for a consignment - this saves time and money and avoids errors and media disruptions.

2024 already looks packed, exciting and very promising
